No matter how young or healthy you are, cruising without travel insurance is a major risk. For years, I traveled without it, even joining higher-risk excursions, assuming my health insurance would cover me. It wasn’t until I began cruising frequently, witnessing medical emergencies firsthand, and hearing stories of the staggering costs of onboard treatment that I realized how vulnerable I had been.

Part of my hesitation was simply confusion; travel insurance can feel overwhelming. After extensive research, I chose an annual plan that covers my entire family for all trips and cruises. Even if one thing goes wrong on your trip such as getting the flu, medical emergency, lost luggage, or last minute cancellation, travel insurance will pay for itself. 

We created this section to help fellow cruisers better understand travel insurance options. While I share my personal experiences and am an independent travel agent authorized to sell insurance, I am not a licensed insurance agent and do not provide insurance advice. The options available through me are with Allianz and Chubb. Individual plans, family plans, and annual plans are available.

Please note: policies cannot be sold to residents of Hawaii or New York. If that applies to you, you will need to find a licensed insurance agent in those states.
